Lixian Future Community is an urban renovated project. The Project is located on the southwest side of Quzhou City, bounded by the Xinyuan Road on the east, Shuanggang Bridge on the south, and Qujiang River on the west, facing the Yanjiayu Island across the River. In 2019, Lixian Future Community took the lead in introducing the UN SUC Guidelines for Sustainable Communities and started innovative practices of future community. In October 2023, the whole project was delivered.
The overall planning and design is centered around the "City of Great Harmony, Advocating Virtue and Respecting the Virtuous". It combines the public core functions of the central TOD to achieve a diverse and shared service system, with the supporting education center and health center, connects the urban functional development axis of the Yanjiayu Vitality Island from east to west, links the urban functional renewal axis of the Baijiatang Riverside Garden Belt from north to south, integrates the urban landscape connection axis of the cultural & educational and medical & health care superior resources in the north and south of the plot, and creates a complex area of medical and health care, culture & education, and dynamic life.
Fusion of classical art and modern architecture
Quzhou is known as the "Home of Southeast Confucianism" and "Shrine of Southern Confucianism". The urban area has ancient buildings such as ancient city walls, ancient residences, and the Southern Confucius Family Temple. These buildings combine the styles of Huizhou architecture, northern architecture, and Jiangsu and Zhejiang architecture, with unique features. About the design of architectural style, Lixian Future Community draws on the cultural heritage of this ancient city in western Zhejiang, deeply explores the site characteristics and local culture, and absorbs inspiration elements from the cultural landmarks of the ancient city such as the Quzhou Ancient City Wall, Lixian Gate, and Shuiting Gate. These elements are then used in the architectural design of the Community; traditional Quzhou architectural elements such as "white walls and black tiles", "front archway", "watchtower", "draped eaves" and "moon gate" are everywhere.
Upgraded version of TOD system
Create a mini TOD system with bus station as the core and weave a three-dimensional transportation network to connect different scenarios in the Community. The slow-moving landscape garden on the ground is like a "cover"; the Community looks as if it is suspended in the air about 5 m high; houses are "planted" in the garden. The slow path covers almost the entire community. The lower part of the community cover is mainly composed of vehicle movement lines and community facilities, while the upper part of the cover is the core of life in the Lixian neighborhood.
Create a warm community life
Future community shall realize the shift from building houses to building homes and lives. In terms of hardware, Lixian Future Community has created a neighborhood center and "Linlihui". The neighborhood center is located at the core along the River, with a total construction area of approximately 60,000 m2, integrating business offices, leisure and socializing, lifestyle, quality catering and other business forms. The design also fully considered many details such as the implantation of courtesy culture and the space of the community square. At Lixian Future Community, old friends and new neighbors can chat under the moon gate and beside the flowers; against the afterglow, people can also take a leisurely stroll along the Qujiang River with their family; at the vibrant children's amusement park, there are scientifically planned rock climbing, climbing, slides and other fun facilities meeting children’s needs to unleash their instincts; the two commercial spaces of Qingyueli and Jinli Street facilitate shopping, window-shopping and gatherings for the owners; Lixian Terrace, Southern Confucianism Bookstore, and Neighborhood School and other special spaces provide residents with diverse venues for reading, socializing, leisure, etc.
