Yudong Village is located in the Gouxi County, Kecheng District, Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province, China. It is 20 kilometers away from Quzhou’s urban area, adjacent to Quzhou West Station of Hang-Qu Intercity High-Speed Railway and the Smart New City which is under planning and construction. The village is an important nod of the initiative of “Quzhou City, A Model City of Virtue”, and also the suburban backyard of High-speed Railway Smart New City.
Yudong Village has an amusing ecological environment, rich cultural heritage, and a simple and kindly folklore. It’s a Historical and (Traditional) Cultural Village, an AAA Tourist Attractions of Zhejiang Province. And it’s also listed in National beautiful and livable model village and national civilized village, China's top ten beautiful villages. As the top ten Villages of Paintings in China, Yudong Painting Village has more than 30-year history of peasant painting, and has been honored as one of the Villages of China's folk culture and art and the top ten Villages of peasant painting in China. In recent years, Yudong peasant paintings have flourished, more than 1,000 peasant paintings each year was created, and more than 200 have won awards in national competitions. At the same time, more than 30 derivative series products such as silk scarves, backpacks, umbrellas, and dot-drill paintings have also been developed. In 2020, the value of farmers' painting-related industries has reached more than 13 million yuan, and blazed a path of industrialized development of "culture + tourism" with Yudong characteristics.
In September 2019, Yudong Village launches the construction of the International Rural Future Communities, to lead the development of rural revitalization with cultural industry. Focusing on the core competitiveness of Yudong Peasant Painting, introducing the UN Guidelines for Sustainable Cities and Communities and benchmarking against international excellent cases, to work out the top-level planning and make design proposals. Planned through the "one core, three pieces, a corridor and multiple points" layout, in accordance with one year to lay the foundation, two years to make achievements, three years to constitute a system, to create the five scenarios of International Rural Future Communities, which are "the future village habitat, the future village industry, the future village culture, the future village governance, the future villagers". Create a 4A-attraction-level scenic Rural Future Community with the theme of Yudong Peasants Painting and the featured of "international style, southern charm, nostalgia flavor, fashionable style and vitality power. Striving to achieve the goal of "revitalizing a village with a painting and creating the first community of peasant painters in China", and to promote the upgrading of the community's production and life style and the reconstruction of a new type of community, so as to realize the revitalization of the countryside and a better life.
The total area of the planning unit is 612.50 hectares, with a population of more than 4,100; the total area of the implementation unit is 210.58 hectares, with a population of more than 3,200; of which, the core area includes 228 households with 812 people.
